　　1) Capacity: Determined by the volume of the sample. Note that in certain applications (such as high-speed centrifugation), the centrifuge tube must be filled to capacity.

　　2) Shape: For collecting precipitates, centrifuge tubes with conical bottoms are preferable, whereas round-bottom tubes are more suitable for density-gradient centrifugation.
